The happy and glorious days of 13:1 compression ratios are only memories, but you can relive them here! Simply enter in the engines existing peak horsepower number and the corresponding mechanical compression ratio, and then enter the new compression ratio. Mashing the compute button will tell you the new horsepower value. Note that this is good only for naturally-aspirated gasoline-burning engines, and ratios are good between 7.0 to 14.0. Also note that there is no guarantee that this formulism works for all (or even most) cases - it was just one of those little equations that appear from time to time in magazines.
Many Thanks to Mr. Bruce Bowling
